pacino wrote:state Senator in Missouri wrote a disturbing response on FB:“I hope Trump is assassinated!” Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, wrote during a morning Facebook exchange, referring to Republican President Donald Trump.
She quickly deleted her post, but not quickly enough. By midafternoon, the political verdicts of her own party were rolling in:
U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.: “I condemn it. It’s outrageous. And she should resign.”
U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-St. Louis: “(C)alling for the assassination of the President is a federal crime. … (She is) an embarrassment to our state. She should resign immediately.”
Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber: “The … Party will absolutely not tolerate calls for the assassination of the President. I believe she should resign.”
she hasn't resigned yet; pathetic.
“President Trump I apologize to you and your family,” Chappelle-Nadal said during an afternoon press conference at the Wellspring Church in Ferguson, Mo.
“I also apologize to all the people in Missouri. And I also apologize to my colleagues in the Missouri legislature for the mistake that I made.”
“I made a mistake. And I’m owning up to it,” she said. “And I’m not ever going to make a mistake like again. I have learned my lesson. My judge and my jury is my Lord Jesus Christ.”

“The conflagration in Charlottesville is beginning to feel like a set-up, perhaps weeks or months in the planning,” the author wrote.
And it describes both white supremacists and those who protested against them as “groups of demented racists.”
“All of them on both sides are certainly that,” the author wrote, while making an exception for Heyer, whose funeral was held Wednesday.
The post begins by reciting a claim that Obama “set up a war room in his D.C. home to plan and execute resistance to the Trump administration.” That claim, widely debunked by fact checkers but widely circulated by far-right news outlets, stems from an article in a London tabloid that cites a single unnamed source claiming to be a friend of Obama’s. There is no further sourcing for the claim, though the claim was recently repeated by the National Enquirer using the phrase “war room.”
“I’m not saying it is true, but I am suggesting that it is completely plausible,” Zollinger responded, adding that “many of the protesters were Soros-funded.”
In an interview, Zollinger said he hadn’t meant to offend anyone with the post, and that on further reflection, its claims are “probably wrong.” He continued to describe the claims as “plausible,” however.
“In hindsight, maybe it was a mistake to post it,” Zollinger said. “I didn’t mean for it to ruffle any feathers.”

Trump administration officials have told the National Academy of Sciences to cease all work on a study of the public health risks for people living near mountaintop removal coal-mining sites in Appalachian, the academy said in a statement late this morning.
The U.S. Department of Interior’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement told the academy that the move is part of an agency-wide review of grants and agreements in excess of $100,000, saying the examination is a result of the department’s “changing budget situation.”
OSM had committed more than $1 million to the study, which was launched last year after a request from officials from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and the state Bureau for Public Health. The two agencies said they needed federal assistance in a review of several dozen scientific papers that had linked mountaintop removal to increased risks of birth defects, cancer, and premature death among residents living near large-scale surface coal mines in Appalachia.
