We're going to start using more private prisons on a federal level again

it doesn't matter to the culties and the GOP slaves but there's always fringe people, and they're the ones that often times decide elections. they're more influenceable, for better or for worse.

sick world. worried for my friend td.

A 51-year-old man was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of killing a man and injuring two others after opening fire inside a crowded Kansas City-area bar and yelling, “get out of my country.”

The two men initially shot were not Middle Eastern. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was killed, was originally from India and had received a master’s degree at the University of Texas. He and Alok Madasani, who was injured, worked in the aviation systems division at GPS-navigation maker Garmin, which has a facility in Olathe.

Kuchibhotla, 32, was married. Family members have set up a GoFundMe page to cover expenses including sending his body to India for his parents to say goodbye.

Hillary Clinton would've gone after his weed, too. Also, #pizzagate

Tories pick up a seat in NW England that hasn't voted anything but Labour since 1924, and it's the first by election gain for a sitting UK government since 1982.

Won by 7 points too. Pretty remarkable stuff. I'd make more fun of Labour for being led by Corbyn, but, well...

Oliver Cooper ‏@OliverCooper
The governing party has only increased its vote share in five by-elections in England since 1971. Two of them were tonight.

Corbyn really struggles tho

Two things so far that are really looking up from the Trump presidency are left of center people in these United States realizing Russia is bad and states rights are good. Would that right of center people could recall our previously held positions on these issues a bit better.

Written about this some before, but from my read no one has reliable allies. There are distinct power centers within the WH, and it's subject to ever changing whims on who is closest to Trump or in charge on any given policy. I guess Reince and Pence are allies and think they'd go to bat for each other, but you've got the Kushner/Ivanka center, then Bannon/Stephen Miller/etc., then various other internal voices who sometimes matter (Kellyanne/Spicer/etc.), then outside people who have Trump's ear (Christie/Stone/Rudy/Ruddy/etc.). People will use each other and throw each other under the bus as it suits them. Trump is transactional and seems to be very what have you done for me lately (or how have you praised me lately). It's a mess. It will only get worse.

things to look forward to

Here are just some of the highlights of the Business Roundtable’s list of “Top Federal Regulations of Concern” that they would like to see weakened or done away with entirely:

EPA rules mandating new coal power plants have carbon capture technology;
EPA clean water rules;
Reporting requirements for large employers under the Affordable Care Act;
The updated overtime rule that would make millions more working Americans eligible for overtime pay;
Net neutrality;
Basic corporate governance rules that allow shareholders “with insignificant stakes in public companies [to] make shareholder proposals that pursue social or political agendas unrelated to the interests of the shareholders as a whole”—which is to say, the ability of non-huge investors to participate in the governance of companies;
Rules requiring major companies to disclose the ratio between the pay of their CEO and median worker pay (“The pay ratio rule, which requires chief executives to certify what is an arbitrary and often meaningless number, provides no material information to shareholders or investors,” asserts the corporate lobbying group, shockingly);
Requirements that companies disclose their use of conflict minerals.

It was Priebus who talked to the FBI and asked them to make a statement about the Russia stuff. This is really incredible. Sadly, I think there's been so much disinformation for so long about the government that many/most people will think this is business as usual.
