so lets digest it. it's a program that doesn't address the countries with citizens traditionally responsible for terrorism on US soil, there's already thorough safeguards in place, there's no statistical evidence that supports this being even remotely useful in the war on terrorism, it affects people that contribute in positive ways to the US economy. what's left? it's just purely jingoism and xenophobia on his part, or is that he wants to create discord in our country?

Well you're exactly right. There was no problem from these 7 countries to address. Extreme vetting was already in place and DHS was doing a great job with a perfect record of keeping out the "bad dudes."

OTOH if you want to establish an authoritarian government the textbook way to do so is to create a bogeyman who is going to destroy the country and then impose repressive, authoritarian rules to combat the (fictitious) threat.

The cynical read on it is that they want to create discord that they will need to stem in order to further consolidate power. I haven't seen much evidence to the contrary, and I'm obviously biased, but I like to think I have an open mind

Well the "Fear Index", AKA the VIX or Volatility IndeX, is climbing. August/September is always a good time to watch the VIX go haywire (buy in May and stay away for you investor types, and August is when earnings are coming in and the funds are looking to close the year up). When the VIX is up, th market is down. Its up ~16% at the moment. Thanks Donald.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you want to figure out what this administration and Congress are trying to do, think of the most cynical thing you can and you won't be far from the truth.
