You don't "win" any counties. And even if you did, he'd probably lose a few states he won if they counted em like the electoral college. PA counties that went for Hillary likely have more people than Trump ones do.

yea, drumpfco hypemeisters' fetishistic recitation of counties won, as a pathetic attempt to make it look like drumpf won a majority of any meaningful count other than electors, is appallingly weird. Sad! almost. The guy didn't run for sheriff, ffs
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

But Republicans insist that a plan they are working on a replacement plan. House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., the third ranking Republican in the House, responded Tuesday by dismissing the report on Twitter.

"The CBO report assumes no Obamacare replacement. In reality, we will provide people with coverage that they want and can actually use," he posted.

Trump is still a wildcard. I never had the hope that some had that this was a con or that he may end up helping the progressive movement with his infrastructure bill and whatnot, Obama vetoed reconciliation bills that began to defund/repeal ACA, so it's an option. Would he do it, just so that he can get his big, beautiful, secret plan in place? I'm not holding my breath.

they've fought any semblance of healthcare coverage going back to the 50s. why would they suddenly want to cover people with money raised by the government? they want the old system back.

I don't disagree, but the challenge for the Pubs is to do so and not take the hit politically.

It's a whole lot easier to criticize and repeal Obamacare than it is to replace it and it's a whole lot easier generally to refuse to govern than to govern and create a record.

Let's be clear: You can either increase the breadth and depth of benefits or lower costs. The only way to do both would be to take on the healthcare and health insurance industries head on (e.g., with a single-payor system) and there's no way the Pubs do that.

So the replacement for Obamacare will either reduce benefits or reduce costs. Guess which one the Pubs are likely to choose?

Although many of their constituents may not yet grasp the simple mathematics of healthcare, the Republican leadership does. So you can bet your bottom dollar that they're hard at work right now not trying to figure out how to make Obamacare better for those who need it, but to reduce costs and then hoodwink the American public into believing their coverage is better.

How will they do so?

I predict that, if we see a plan at all, we'll see a plan which, in actuality, leave millions exposed to losing healthcare and millions more with higher premiums. But the plan will be aggressively (and falsely) marketed as "better and cheaper" than Obamacare. As the months go by and especially as 2017 turns into 2018 and millions find themselves losing their insurance and/or with skyrocketing premiums, Trump & Co. will simply insist that the facts are wrong; that those who have been disenfranchised from affordable (or any) healthcare don't actually exist; that costs have actually been lowered and benefits increased. They'll trot our a few outlier examples of people who didn't have health insurance before, but now (then) do and a few more whose premiums have gone down and will swear -- cross their hearts and hope to die -- that TrumpCare is an unqualified success.

It will be up to an educated American citizenry to see through the lies. (I'm not holding my breath either.)

But, in the end, their constituents will be mollified so long as Obamacare is repealed, but not the Affordable Care Act.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

really disappointing

If McCain is sold, that would eliminate most of my concerns. He wouldn't vote for him if he wasn't convinced on the Russia stuff, and said his meeting with Tillerson yesterday went well specifically on that issue. But he sounded this morning like he could go either way on the final vote.

It's actually not even in the top ten in the past week.

It was a lame, layup joke that has been told and re-told for decades. I actually needed the drums after I hit submit. Grow up and stop acting like a petulant child.

that swampy feeling down under:
His selection as the Interior nominee was due in part to his views as a Western state lawmaker and on public lands. Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., is an avid hunter and fisher and subscriber to a Teddy Roosevelt view of public lands that mixes conservation and development. Zinke often cites himself as a Roosevelt acolyte, as well.
Trump Jr. was actively involved in the search for an interior nominee, speaking openly with sportsmen publications about his interest in the role.

Stay tuned on this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trump Jr try to scoop up land for profit.
