How about the expression "fan base." Nearly everyone calls fans a fan base. Who is in the fan base and who isn't? A fan base could be a place where all the fans hang out. But that would be tough to accomplish.

For the last 27 years, have we really been going with this idea that Russia is in Europe instead of Asia, but we call it "Eurasia" instead, but then Africa wants to be included too so we have a super-continent called "Afro-Eurasia"? What the fuck. I was in middle school when Germany came back together and the Soviet Union fell apart, but I somehow missed the memo that Russia is part of Europe

Right, but I was always taught in school that USSR (and Russia) were in Asia, it never came up again in high school or college since I was done with social studies, and I never thought about it again until last week when someone asked which continent it was in and I was surprised to see it isn't Asia anymore

When I was in Moscow I asked some students whether Russia was a European country and they found the question confusing. I'm guessing kids in st. Petersburg would respond differently.
