I bought a Smart TV and it comes with built in streaming channels. One of them is a Stand Up channel. So now, every time that I turn on my TV, I get a comedian doing stand up. Last night was Tom Papa. Funny fucking guy.

Birbiglia and another comic doing a set on his Instagram page starting in 10 minutes

this is an enjoyable distraction so far

James Acaster's Repertoire series on netflix is excellent. It's presented as four standup shows ( Recognise, Represent, Reset and Recap) but you can certainly watch them one at a time, or even in a different order. You'll miss a few "aha!" moments along the way if you do, but despite some lulls all the show work individually.

The original video got 1.8 million views before I had to unlist it because my students found it. This version has more than a million views. There are a few other versions of it with several million views. YouTube is a funny game.

Seriously? Or is this like the marathon episode of The League?

I stuck around after the show for the autograph signing, and I told Bill I recorded it and it would be on YouTube the next day. He said normally he would be pissed, but he was glad this particular set was preserved. He found me on MySpace and asked for my permission before putting it on one of his DVDs as a bonus feature. I debated calling in to O&A a few times when they talked about it, but I really didn’t have much to add and I didn’t want to get the car crash drop.

I have photos of me and him from that night somewhere, and a poster autographed by all of the comics. RIP Patrice.

I was right in the middle of some pretty cool moments in the mid-to-late 00s, so it’s understandable if you missed one.
