I think it was a photojournalist that phoned a local network affiliate (CNN has been carrying local news feeds on and off of the MIT shootout). IIRC, he said he heard from police chatter that the guy resembled marathon suspect 1 and were awaiting confirmation from the feds. CNN has been going out of their way to emphasize there is no confirmed connection with the MIT shooting and explosions and the marathon, almost like their afraid of getting egg on their face again.

My gut is telling me it's may be the marathon suspects, probably because there were/are explosive devices involved.
