NLCS Game 4 GDT: HOLY SHIT

Postby jerseyhoya » Tue Oct 20, 2009 19:04:45

Jim Thome on Charlie Manuel’s “called shot” gesture before Jimmy Rollins’ walk-off hit last night: “That’s the fun of Charlie. That’s the fun of Charlie. Charlie is like a dad to me. You can do that with your dad. But the outcome wasn’t very good, so it’s not a fun thing to talk about.”

so we are close to 24 hours since the play and I still barely have a voice. Nothing could piss me off today at work. I so with they were playing tonight. I don't think I will ever stop watching the replay of the hit.

Did anyone else think of the scene from Goodfellas when Henry is in the shower and hears about the Luftansa heist and starts yelling Jimmy? That was in my head from the minute the ball left the bat. Love this team.

I'd like to see a montage set to the coda to Layla with Dodgers' bodies being found all over Philadelphia. I'm picturing Torre in the meat freezer.

Wiki:

In the bottom of the 9th of game 4 of the series Bottalico and the host can seen reacting to the game winning hit with great excitement, Dutch stays motionless and mute through the entire event. He already had seen it happen.

You can almost see Jeter slipping in on the left side of the picture to tag Jimmy, but, amazingly, this time he was slightly too late. But it took 3000 miles and his own series that he had to carry on his back to throw up a roadblock big enough to stop him.

Jeter chose not to tag him. He's there in that picture. You just have to look closely. Guy has eyes all over his head, actually.

Didn't see this posted re: post-game refreshments:

Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I feel like I'm losing it. I swear I remember them saying that before the hit, and then during the big hit Franze saying, "and jimmy rollins has made his mark on this series." I swear I heard that the first few times I heard the replay, but now it's not there on the MLB.com clip, which means I either imagined it or they cut the clip short. I thought it was during the madness though, so I don't think they cut it off short.

Just listened to it on gameday audio and he did say it after it's cut off on mlb.com. Too bad because that was maybe my favorite part of the call.
