Yep. They usually give the fielder some latitude there, but he was way off.

noticed that too. i thought it should have been called too because it was in part the throw that pulled torrealba away from the plate, it wasn't just him trying to make a phantom dp.

Heh, this reminds me. During the 9th inning of the Angels-Red Sox game, the score suddenly went from 7-6 Angels to 7-7 during a foul popout. Then it was changed to 7-6 Red Sox, then 7-7 again, and finally back to 7-6 Angels.
