wow, that cubs board is amazing. i demand us to merge with them. voxes, what is being done about this?

this seems to be part of their TOS
--No more death threats or vows to kill or otherwise maim individuals because of what happens during the course of a baseball game. It's fine to express frustration and anger and/or to talk about retaliation within context of the game (brushbacks or whatever); just please stay out of the realm of violent crimes that are eligible for the death penalty.

Also dude still thinks he's facing Blanton instead of Lee today. He's going to be sad to find out that isn't the case.

bonus: marmol pitches to our lefties is right after chan ho

it's funny when they are in total board meltdown mode and Fred Hornkol drops lines like this:
CUBS are 18-17 when they hit an opposing batter.... 40-35 when they don't
CUBS pitchers have hit 12 batters in their last 12 games

Go CUBS !!

Phils have a .500 record all-time when they either win a game or lose a game. Could be a trend!
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

An enjoyable read for a few reasons. One, they have a poster who makes BigEd look like PtK. Two, they all completely flip out at the beer throwing thing with complete shame. Three, they really hate their team. Like almost Met levels, far worse I think than we get even on our bad days.

Why you gotta use my name in vein man?

Plus, I'm sure BigEd ain't digging it neither...

Not sure if anybody was still looking for an explanation on last night's beer toss, but here is what it says in the Rulebook:

Example: Runner on third base, one out and a batter hits a fly ball deep to the outfield (fair or foul). Spectator clearly interferes with the outfielder attempting to catch the fly ball. Umpire calls the batter out for spectator interference. Ball is dead at the time of the call. Umpire decides that because of the distance the ball was hit, the runner on third base would have scored after the catch if the fielder had caught the ball which was interfered with, therefore, the runner is permitted to score. This might not be the case if such fly ball was interfered with a short distance from home plate.

Obviously doesn't rectify the man at 2nd, but clearly a situation like that is in the umpire's discretion.

Cubs GM Jim Hendry: "You're risking a very dangerous thing here, if the beer splatters in his face and he misjudges that ball and it hits him in the head and broke his nose.

Was this wishful thinking on Hendry's part? Because it seems like he put an awful lot of thought into this scenario.
