he didn't actually lose the game but...

It's funny because our guys can catch batted balls while beer is being thrown in their face, but their guys can't catch fly balls period.
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

I was going to make a comment over there about how "glorious" it was that Shane didn't do a Castillo on the ball.

I've got to wonder what exactly Shane has done to garner the hate from the Mets fans... Was it his complaining about being thrown at his head in the NLCS? Or was it some Mets-specific incident that I'm not remembering. Or is it some aspect of his typical daily play?

Or would the reaction be the same simply because it's a Phillies player in general?

I'm just suprised by how they seem to regard Victorino.

Color me surprised as well. The only thing I can think of is Victorino circling the bases with his finger in the air (I forget when) a la Jose Reyes. I don't even know if Victorino did that to mock Reyes. Other than that, I have no idea.

There's a bunch of other stuff. Like the time Vic intentionally ran into one of the Mets infielders to get a bogus interference call when he was caught in a rundown a year or two ago. There's also a pic of Vic holding onto some Mets dude's leg after sliding into a base that the fugees were making a fuss over.

here's an article on the interference call...

actually that was in may, but Vic did a similar thing in a Giants game a couple years ago

If Victorino was on the Mets I'd hate his guts. He'd be that annoying, sorta good but not great player that killed us, and was over exuberant when doing so.

If you go to some of the other SBNation sites, he really is the most universally reviled Phillie. The Giants blog readers hated his guts even before he took the All-Star spot that "rightfully" belonged to Fat-Ass Panda.

In that one game where we came back after down 3 runs in the 9th at Shea last year, Shane scored and just stood on home plate for a few seconds staring into the Mets dugout.

Yeah, Shane hates the Mets too.

I don't get why other fanbases hate him, but the Mets hating him makes plenty of sense.

I just editted it into the last page but the reason they hate Vic is probably because of the interference call he got against Vizquel a couple years ago.

Come on guys, I love Vic, but this is sooooooooo true. It's not at all a surprise he's hated by everyone outside of Philadelphia. He's demonstrative, opinionated, and he doesn't look like he should be the thing that kills you, but so often, he is. think of the Brewers last year: Of all the goddamn people in the world, Shane Victorino hits a frigging GS off of Sabathia? If the situations were reversed and whoever their Victorino equivalent is launched a GS off Cole, think of how emotionally rattled we'd all be.

This is not a mystery.

Remember Luis Castillo as a Marlin in 2003? He's like that but more demonstrative...
