Not debatable.

1. Halladay
2. Haren
3. Lincecum

If everyone is on their best day, I still like Santanna.

For Santana not to be in the top 3 of a list, its severely biased. Seriously.

I get that but it is at the point where they have to trade him. They know this and we know this. Who are we competing against right now? I might come around on that offer a week from now where there are competing bids but now?

There is no "week from now"; JP has made it pretty clear that a deal is finished by Tuesday July 28th or there is no deal. Halladay has since talked about testing free agency but I think the real deadline here is the 28th unless JP has since said something I missed.

So you believe that he will actually stop listening on the 28th? He is creating a faux deadline to get people to get nervous and up their offer. F' him.

He's also said he would wait until July 31 and gone back on everything he's said 100 times. Doesn't mean anything

Every rumor/speculation has it as a 4 for 1 deal. Henceforth, I refuse to believe any scenario that isn't a 3-1 or 5-1

If we're talking about an entire body of work and consistency over a career, Santana trumps Halladay quite easily., If you're talking about the best pitcher right at this moment, Haren trumps Halladay quite easily. I don't believe Halladay is the best pitcher in baseball no matter what perspective of 'best pitcher' one has

I hope Halladay gets roughed up tonight a little bit. It has to work both ways, Buster.

As I understand, Riccairdi's July 28 soft deadline has to do with Halladay slated to pitch the 29th (or whenever his last possible start is prior to the trade deadline).

Maybe not but, really, what is going to change between now and any date next week (other than Halladay is going to make another start for the Blue Jays next Weds)? Is another team suddenly going to jump into the fray? I doubt it but if it is possible and Halladay is the guy you really want then you get the deal done now if you can.

What might change is what they have to give up. We honestly don't know about any offers, we don't know who is involved, and JPR has handled this whole thing so ass-backwards that nothing he's done makes sense. So trying to read what he's doing or saying doesn't really amount to anything, b/c he's said everything and the opposite of it now

so lets re-calibrate and focus on doug davis, ok monty?

"best" is subjective. But hes one of the 3-4 best pitchers in baseball. and hes the only one available. so who gives a fuck about semantics.

How about King Felix? Mr. Perfect game? Greinke? Cliff Lee has some things going for him too.

Halladay is the best pitcher in baseball who is available right now. That might be the most important thing though.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Jeez... going from Fadool to Dei Lynam in one camera shot is the equivalent of going from Scarlett Johansson to Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs...

A source told me that reports of Doc to the Phillies within the next 24 hours are inaccurate.

If they're close, how can they let either Halladay or Carrasco pitch tonight. Makes no sense.

Yes, although there have been some legit rumors such as the Ed Price one

From Andy Martino's PhillieZone blog:

Well, here it is, the Blue Jays asking price for Roy Halladay: Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi has spoken to the Phillies within the past 24 hours and negotiations are underway in earnest, baseball sources tell the Inquirer. They want Kyle Drabek, J.A. Happ and Dominic Brown.

That's what they've asked for. It remains to be seen how the Phils will respond to that.
