The other two hottest names on the market seemed like they were interested in this job and that it may have been their top choice if it was offered to them.

That should be pretty encouraging for us.

Looking at this from the outside what other team that is hiring has two top 20ish players? Also, Tobias Harris is talented. If you are a good coach, you would think you could get more out of him. It's also not impossible to imagine a role where Horford (while certainly not living up to his contract) can play a productive role. Usually teams that are looking for coaches have like 20 wins.

Doc confirmed during the press conference that he was ready to take a break from coaching but saw a great opportunity here and couldn't pass it up

Also said he wants to keep Jo here, and he isn't concerned about Ben's shooting, just how many points the team as a whole scores

I thought for sure he would take a television gig for a year. He would have made as much a year as he did in LA without the contract BS involved in taking another job while being paid by another team.

Sixers did well.

Doc is like, the community leader. This might be the complete opposite of what I believed to be a soulless turn in the journey of the process. This might be the most processy feel good move to get the process on track. I can see it, Joel and Ben laughing together. Old ass Al Horford playing under an experienced coach. The Tobias Kool Aid. And Buddy Hield is going to come here. Plus the fans will return. We're gonna have moments.

Perhaps we believed that after development under Brown, the team would find its Phil Jackson. He may not draw up the zen plays, but the two main guys will mature under his tutelage. The talent is already top tier, now they need to be leaders (see: Jimmy Butler)

That's why I've always liked Rivers a lot just from the outside. He seems like he would be fun to play for even though he also is a hardass at times. I am surprised him and Paul Pierce never got into a fight.

He isn't zen but he isn't a bumbling dumbass that makes zero adjustments either. Sorry if that was too mean but it is true.

It took many years to get out from under the evils of Adam Silver and Collars Colangelo. I feel like we got good dudes in Doc and Brand who are in with the players side of the league. But then of course this is all under the control of the chameleon Hosh Jarris so we'll never be truly safe.

Doc is on 97.5 Missanelli's show right now. Said Philly was the only open job he considered taking, otherwise he was gonna take the year off

D'antoni would have been fun but I was so happy that the Clippers clipped him because he seemed perfect. Didn't think he would take the job but it is hard to get a built to win franchise. Those Clippers teams were sort of that way also but I think the Sixers issues are more fundamental and Brown obviously didn't do shit to clean that up. If they get his son and Hield the ball is rolling. Maybe Ben can learn to shoot and Embiid remembers he isn't Pete Maravich.

This Horford for Hield scuttlebutt. What kind of package are we talking about here? Zhaire/Horford/21/36 for Buddy, something like that? Too bad Vlade isn't still running things, we'd get picks back.

It’s dumars now might be even better. Gotta add some size.

Ah never mind they brought on a new gm a few weeks ago. Carry on.

Seemed like Doc didn't mention Al too much today. Named about 8 other players though

Probably have to take Harrison Barnes' contract back from SAC in the deal to make the money work if you're moving Horford's contract out. Hield/Barnes for Horford/Zhaire/Mike Scott/picks works in the trade machine from a money standpoint.

If you’re using ESPN, they still have Buddy’s contract from this year. The first year of his extension starts in the off season and his contract goes up to a little less than Horford’s. No filler needed or probably something small at worst.
