Apparently there was a leak of the lottery. Trying to find it on Twitter but can’t find the pic. Apparently it had the Rangers and Blackhawks in the top 3. If anyone finds it please post.

Ha, was that on the telecast?

Also that lottery is almost the worst result for the flyers

What Ace said. Close to if not the worst possible outcome for the Flyers. Wish I felt better about getting Patrick 2 years ago.

Would have had #3 (granted in a clear top 2 player draft) had they won any one of those final 5 games

PT is pretty good to be honest. He may have a weekend show but he's rarely on during the week anymore. He jokes a ton so he may have been sarcastic, which he does a lot.

Yeah...last night was a painful night for the Flyers.

I really thought we were on the cusp when we got the 2017 #2 overall pick in Patrick and then jumped up to get Frost. I don't know about our outlook anymore. Frost and Farabee and Ratcliffe seem like good prospects but the Rangers have Kratsov and now Kakko. The Devils will have Hischier and now Hughes. I thought Hextall had us on the right track even if he was a little cautious. Nothing nothing about Holmgren or Fletcher or Gordon gives me much confidence at all.

Flyers are a completely dead franchise. Hextall did damage that may not be able to be undone for several years. They will go out this summer and look to acquire "big" names who are probably long past their primes.

Add in a major ticket price hike and removing season ticket holders from their long-time seats and this organization is in big trouble at the gate.

This run from January showed the Flyers have the talent to compete but it also killed their draft chances.

Granted I didn't watch a ton of Flyers but wasn't the run from January mostly a mirage? Poor D-man play being bailed out by Hart, which doesn't have much of a chance of being replicated at that level again?

Hart missed a stretch of games in that run and they still for awhile were like top 3 points in all the NHL. I think a big part was Hart but was also better PP and PK too.

I'm far more optimistic than you. We have Carter Hart. He could be a top 5 goalie in the NHL as early as next year. Couts is a star just hitting his prime on an amazing contract. We need a 2C and a top 4 defenseman. They're not easy to come by but we have the assets and money. It stings that our division rivals got #1 and #2 but they have much more holes than us. I'd also argue that Farabee is a better all-around player than Kratsov. Again, we have Carter Hart.

Flyers had/have some good young talent. They haven’t developed it worth shit though.

When a team come off of a disappointing season, things usually look bleak for a while. As for the Flyers, they are set in goal for the next decade and a half with Hart and the other goalies that are in the system. Its pretty much the same with the Flyers on defense. The forwards need some more speed and finishing skill. The greatest organizational need is a coach and staff that can scheme better with the talent that is here. This is a PO team roster for next season providing injuries don't raise havoc with it again.
As for the draft, so what? Hughes may be a player and then again maybe, not. There is just as much of a chance that the player that the Flyers take at eleven will have as much of an impactive career as Hughes or KK. These are eighteen year olds. What they will become by the time they hit twenty-five is anyone' guess.
Regarding the Devils getting the top pick in two of the last three seasons, the lack of transparency with the draft, it smacks of Bettmann having his hands on the scale to help save a dying franchise. It is destined to be transferred from an area that is never going to support that club. The Jersey situation is similar to the situation that existed in Hartford. That area was comprised of established Ranger and Bruin fans; the Whalers never had a chance. The vast majority of the Jersey suburbs of NYC are, have been, and will be Rangers fans. Inflating the Devils' roster isn't going to change that and make it into a regional draw. Just transfer the Devils to Quebec city and be done with it.

I'm not sold on the young defensive talent like others are. I know they had a lot of high picks, but that doesn't always translate to slam dunk NHL players. If you add a top pairing guy (Easier said than done) then I think your defense is probably fine.
