Random Baseball: Dingers and Bat Flips and Five Hour Games

The Arizona Diamondbacks are amazing at being average.

In a strange Major League Baseball record that's the epitome of OK, the Diamondbacks have been within two games of .500 -- plus or minus -- for more than two months. They lost to the Colorado Rockies on June 18 to fall to 38-36 and have remained a middle-of-the-road club since.

The 60-game streak has beaten the Oakland A's mark of 56 straight games set in 2007, according to Stats LLC.

Phillies are something 0-8 when they're 6 games over .500 this year

I think that’s their last 8 when 6 over (which they are tonight) not for the season, as they got to 10 or 11 over at 1 point this year

Former Phillies' minor league catcher Chace Numata was found injured in Erie, PA this morning in a skateboarding accident. According to the linked article surveillance video shows he was riding a motorized skateboard when he fell down and hit his head. He was playing with the Erie Seawolves of the Eastern League, AA affiliate of the Tigers.

Officials are being a bit mum about his condition, which has me worried. The Tigers put out a statement:
“We have been in contact with hospital officials and SeaWolves leadership about his condition,” the statement said. “All of us with the Detroit Tigers ask for Chace to be kept in your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

When people put out statements like that without saying what his condition/prognosis is, that's usually a bad sign.

For Shadow:

What is the reason behind Bellinger's slump?

He's actually been OPSing around .900 during this down time.

Here's a cool story from Thursday night: Marlins lefty reliever Brian Moran, the older brother of Colin on Pittsburgh, finally made his major league debut after 10 years ... and he had to face his brother. It's the first time since 1900 there was a brother-vs-brother pitcher/batter matchup in a major league debut. It was also the first game since June 1998 where a player made his ML debut against his brother's team (Alex Cora LA vs Joey Cora SEA)

Colin was actually originally drafted by the Marlins oddly enough. Baseball-reference also says their uncle is B.J. Surhoff. BJ's brother Rich also pitched a single inning for the Phillies in 1985 and 8 innings for the Rangers

Of course. Part of the Phillies rich tradition of having the wrong brother
