Still don't know how he won. His putting within 10 ft was bad. If he can get that to average he's gonna win another this year.

He was just solid. His front nine was kinda up and down, but he didn't make any catastrophic mistakes. That point on 12 where everybody put it in the water but him was the turning point. His putting wasn't great, but the only other guy who was having a great putting run that was in contention was Molinari and he shot himself in both feet.

Just watched this again and there was also Xander and JT and another former champion who I legit didn’t recognize

Who was the big guy who seemed to be in with the family who hugged him first (after the fam)? Red striped polo shirt.

In hindsight and removing fandom from the equation, I think this is objectively the best sporting event I've ever watched from start to finish

I was utterly captivated with every single shot

Missed seven greens in his last 54 holes.

Fantastic theater on the most iconic golf course in the world. A leaderboard filled with young guns that took the mantle from Tiger over the past 10 years. Absolutely amazing.

Only criticism is Tiger either needs to call LeBron's hair guy, or just shave it all off. The patchy hair look is just bad.

Just a stupid display of ball striking. Would be shocked if he wasn't 1st in SG:Approach. His tee game was relatively solid too.

While he got crowned a little bit with some dudes wilting, he really beat the big guns. I mean: DJ, Brooks, Day, Molinari...and Xander, Rahm, Finau, Fowler were all in the top ten.

It was an impressive performance, even if the putting wasn't great. Isn't the case that Augusta is especially suited for Tiger's game? And you wonder--did Tiger intimidate Fineau and Molinari like he did in the old days? If Tiger regains the ability to get into his opponent's heads, he could take another few majors.

Augusta is suited to long hitters. Not much penalty for offline tee shots. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, yes, Tiger was a long hitter. He's middle of the pack at best now.

The crowd is the intimidation factor. Every gallery is pulling for Tiger. It seemed like the Ryder cup on foreign soil for everyone not named Tiger.

bethpage black is up next with the new early date for the pga. lots of bunkers and tall grass if you miss the fairway by even a foot or two. should be another fun one.

Good God. The dude at the ending interview talking about how this was a "momentous" event, the kind of thing that people will remember where they were?!?!? Gimme a fucking break. A guy won a golf tournament. Morning Joe was talking the same bullshit. "10 years from now, 20 years from now...". GTFO.

I'm OK with Tiger. I'm not a huge fan but not a hater either. I think my appreciation for Tiger has grown with my realization that Phil is a seriously shady dude that gets a free pass on way worse personal conduct than Tiger. Tiger did overcome really bad injuries so there's that. Perhaps this will sound dumb but I kinda think Sergio at long last finally winning a major in 2017 was a more compelling moment than Tiger winning his umpteenth but that's me.

Squire, I dislike Sergio, so that moment was not compelling for me, but Tiger's win is being treated as the ultimate of all redemption stories, and I don't even think it's close, partly because Tiger certainly greased the skids for himself, and partly because he's already shown he is back to being a guy capable of winning. The fact that he actually won (on a course that perfectly suits him) is in some ways anti-climactic. I may have been less than impartial, though, b/c I had Molinari in my pool... I did enjoy watching the finish and felt good for him, though.

Bethpage and Pebble are also good fits for Tiger's game. I'll be interested to see if he can pick one of those off.

Like I said, I don't really dislike Tiger. But to me he's like the golf equivalent of rooting for the Patriots or the Yankees or the Lakers. Having an 11 year gap between majors and overcoming the back injury is a great story. But Sergio finally winning a major in his 74th try seemed like a more interesting story to me. Plus, if Sergio was on the US Ryder Cup team instead of the one that routinely kicks our butt, I think he'd be beloved coast to coast.

Tiger changed the way an entire sport is played/covered.
Sergio is a dick.

Comparing the two is incredibly naive.

Yeah I just think golf tennis ect are different for most people than the sports with teams in cities. Most people don’t have any qualms with rooting for the favorite especially if it’s an American over a foreigner. Especially with Tiger breaking the mold demographically from the same bland white guys that otherwise have dominated the sport historically and to a large extent still today.

I do think it’s fair to say we’re going to be talking about this Tiger win in 30 years just like we talk about the 1986 Masters over whoever won the other 3 majors that year.

To each his own, obviously. And moreover it’s clearly only “groundbreaking” relative to sports, he didn’t solve polio ect.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.
