that's what the defense pairings this morning suggest.

I don't think Sanheim has been necessarily good... but this is the type of decision making that makes me hate Hakstol. He is far and away more talented than Manning and MacDonald.

that would have more prudent than hextall's half in/half out bullshit that only led to mediocrity. i can't imagine they keep simmonds around with one year left on his deal, but you never with hextall because i'm not sure he has any idea what he's doing.

I don't know if that is accurate. We've been slowly shedding shit and making room for our young prospects. Hextall has done a pretty stellar job refilling our young talent through the draft, and hopefully next year will be the next step forward. The biggest issue is getting the coach and GM to let the talent play more, especially on defense.

It's incredible. He defended manning this morning

I agree that Hextall has done a great job shedding salary and building up the system. Two of his best moves might actually be the Couts and Ghost under-market contracts. Cap space and the young talent is coming. The future is bright. However, he has some serious blind spots too. His NHL player talent evaluation is awful. Weise, Lehtera, Flip, Mrazek, Umberger, etc. Carter Hart may be special but he's at least 2 years away from potentially being a #1 goalie. Let's see him handle the AHL before we anoint him. We need a freaking goalie and he has to get one this offseason. It won't happen but I'd also love to see him move on from the mistake of an NCAA coach.

If they're correct and unless Sanheim is hurt, that is an atrocious move. If anyone should sit its would be Manning. The sooner they get Manning out of the organization the better. Barring any trades, Provorov, Ghost, Gudas, AMac, Sanheim, Hagg and Morin should be the seven defensemen next season. Myers as the first call up.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The only thing I am curious about is how much Hextall influenced this decision. Either way, I think its a dumb move.

Kinda hard to hold Mrazek against hextall considering we had no healthy goalies and it was the trade deadline. Wound up getting him for a third assuming he walks at the end of the year.

Neuvirth is starting, Coots appears to be playing but was skating warmups w/ the 3rd line and Filpula was up with G and Simmonds... oh and Dale Weise is playing

I'm not as negative as you are, especially towards the Schenn trade, but none of the moves this playoff had made much sense. I don't hate putting Coots at 3C since he may not be healthy enough to play his full 20+ mins, but putting fucking Filpula there? Welp.

that's the 3rd or 4th time the Flyers have had too many men in this series.. I'm not going to get mad if/when we lose tonight, but so many simple, stupid mistakes

It's whomever passed the puck right to Giroux's fault (was that Manning?)

Malkin also hurt himself trying to slew foot... I think Lehtera. I don't usually feel good about injuries, but when it's because you're trying to trip up another player.. meh.
