Isaac did say something that Hakstol may be messing around with the lineups and this might not be final, but it's depressing if it is.

I'm actually excited for the top two lines, and the skill on the bottom six is so much better than last year. I just wish that it were Lindblom instead of Weise.

The only reason both of them are active is because of Ghost's injury, one of them would have been sent down and one would have been scratched. They have 8 defensemen, so two were getting scratched - it's not a surprise that it was two things. Upsetting, but not a surprise.

This is the least excited I've been for a Flyers team in like a decade. And they got rid of Schenn!

To me it is more exciting because it has to get us one year closer to Hextall's end goal. More young talent on this team than year's past.

Either the young guys step it up and we fight for a playoff spot, or maybe Hextall moves some of the Vets an goes with all young guys. Something has to happen though and this season is key to determining who is going to be here going forward including Hakstol.

This is the big season for Hakstol. If he misses the POs, he'll probably get canned. He'll need this team to get every point that it can. Starting AMac and Manning is a sure way to be shown the door. Manning is simply not an NHL caliber player.
Hakstol needs offensive production from his defense as well as responsibility in the d-zone. The kids can do that. Sure they'll get burned from time to time but so will Manning and AMac. There's no upside in playing the vets and sitting the rooks. They'll improve over time. That can't be said for the vets. We know what they have and it's not good enough.

Exactly. There's no upside in playing THESE vets. Give me a 42 year old Kimmo Timonen, a (hypothetically healthy) 42 year old Chris Pronger, an aged Nik Lidstrom on one leg, and we'll talk. Those guys have done something in their careers. They're literally going to play A-Mac tonight because he won a player vote in the locker room to be a captain. Morin should absolutely be in against the Sharks over Manning.

Hextall’s been good at the draft and signing amateur players. Think he’s putrid at putting together a team at the nhl level.

I guess we can't be 100% sure. But Morin was in your lineup at the end of the year. I didn't see a ton of action but by all accounts Morin was fine in the pre-season. I feel like the equivalent would have been waiting until next July to call up Nick Williams and next September to call up Hoskins. I've understood the patience on the Phillies' and Sixers' parts the last few years. But with Hextall, we're beyond the point of trying to comprehend this IMHO. These guys have to play now.
