Yeah unfortunately they would get slaughtered PR wise, and Pujols probably has too much cache to send to the NL and lose those bonus opportunities

I dunno. I was just looking at leaderboards and was struck by how bad Pujols was this year. If he plays every day next year, he may reach the top 5 in career RBIs, he'll reach 3k hits, etc. I'm just not sure how much you can keep playing him. And he's under contract for 4 more years.

Derek Jeter doesn't even own the Marlins yet, but he already has informed the team that he plans to fire two special assistants who are in Baseball's Hall of Fame (Andre Dawson and Tony Perez), the manager who led them to the 2003 World Series championship (Jack McKeon) and the player known as Mr. Marlin (Jeff Conine), according to two MLB sources.

And here's the twist: Jeter asked Marlins president David Samson to fire those four Marlins luminaries for him, because Jeter didn't want to do it.

Not mlb, but there will be a dedication ceremony and and a demo of town ball at the Jefferson St. Grounds this Sunday

Group has been working for a while on getting an historical marker at the site at 1400 N. 26th. The A's played there in the 19th century, and the inaugural National League game was held there in 1876.

altuve became the 5th player in the last 70 years with at least 4 straight 200 hit seasons. the others were ichiro, puckett, boggs and this former phillie (don't guess if you got the at-bat alert, hint - he played for them within the last 10 years).
