-- Fredi Gonzalez will be back with the Barves next season, and they hired Bo Porter to be their 3B coach

-- Michael Young joined the Rangers as a Special Asst. to the GM, and they're talking to Darren Oliver about a similar role

The Red Sox, Yankees, Tigers, Angels and Athletics combined to win as many postseason games as the Phillies this year (or the Astros...or the Cubs...)

I don't know if this helps KK. The Phillies would be crazy to QO him so he goes out on the market. Do you think that any team is going to give a #4 that sort of money?
This may help the Phillies. Other teams might have pitchers that they won't QO at that number and fall into the FA market that the Phillies can get on a one or two year deal at a reasonable price.

If Kendrick is back on the team even for a dollar they might as well shut down the franchise

I was kind of half joking but I wouldn't be totally shock if Amaro gives him a QO

Kendrick is weird as hell. The Phillies went to the playoffs five straight years. Kendrick was on the team the whole time. He has pitched a total of 3.2 innings during that time, and that was in 2007. Clearly the phillies don't think much of him. Yet, they like to throw money and years at him.

Actually it's the Phillies who are weird I guess.

Has anyone put out an analysis of which FAs might get a QO?

Just guessing here:
-- Scherzer
-- Shields
-- Nelson Cruz
-- Victor Martinez
-- Panda
-- HanRam
-- David Robertson

(Lester is ineligible for a QO since he started the season with Boston)

I just started a Hamels, Rollins, and Brown to LA for Puig, Seager, and Tom Windle rumor. Feel free to pass it on.

not actually specifically or even generally about baseball, but definitely about a beloved intangible of abiding interest to many here:

Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Phils should definitely hire some grit coaches and place them throughout the system. I have no doubt there is such a thing. Can it be taught or developed? That's the tricky part. I think it can.

Grit is trickier in baseball than it is in other sports I believe. But it don't hurt.

What's the deal, you sign contracts with your own players whenever, and other players after the world series is over?
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I'd assume you can extend your own guys at anytime. Supposedly they've also had extensive talks with Cruz.

Cruz has GOT to crash and burn next season right? I think he was all BABIP driven this season.
