10-31-08 GDT The WORLD SERIES PARADE THREAT

I bet they screwed up and forgot to sell tickets for those seats.

Anyone hear any estimates on how many people there were?

I thought they "sold out" yesterday in about an hour?

I heard Barkann & Mitch question it but don't know if it was ever answered.
i think they've called those sections auxiliary press seating.
if you don't know what the wrestlers are trying to do--how certain moves and holds are supposed to work and so forth, then it might just look like too sweaty guys rolling around on a mat.

Oh. I'm replying to a Steagles post. Um. OK.

The parade part was awesome for the 7 minutes it passed. I didn't see a ton of the players though. The place was packed beyond belief. It took 3 hours of sitting on a train on the R5 to get from Market East to Whitford out past Exton station. It was horrible.

just got back. i was on broad near south st. PTB on the clydesdales wagon was awesome. when cole came by we were chanting MVP, and cole fist-pumped in pattern. very cool.

wasnt to pleased with the sightlines on broad st. i got there before 10 to get a good spot. but the cops wouldnt let anybody past the sidewalk. but then after 12:30 they packed 5 rows of people in front of us on the curb and shoulder. everyone was getting really pushy trying to get room - and the quantity of people urinating in alleys/parking lots was really distributing.

i went down last night. but everyone i heard from who drove got there VERY easily. but everyone who took public transport got screwed hard.

It was a breeze driving from Yardley down to the park. Easy to get parked. Stadium was nearly empty when we arrived at 10:15.

Wolfed down a Tony Luke's (already had a line there) and chilled for a long time.

Good baseball video and commentary by Barkan and Mitch.

just got back from the parade. We sat in 101, first row, so we were really close to the players. The subway was crazy coming back, with people trying to push their way onto full trains. This one dude at Ellsworth-Federal kept insisting he could get on and a fight almost broke out. He was standing in the door, so the train couldn't move ahead . . .until someone broke out a cell phone a took a picture. The guy lunged for the phone, missed, lost his balance and got pushed out, allowing the doors to close and our train to speed away. Chase Utley is a god, by the way

Yeah, they were converted into workstations with some sort of desktops for the press. Probably a lot of power and data lines added that they would have needed to rip out before letting people sit there today.

Finally made it home around 6:30. What a day!

Boyfriend and I got to Nova Care about 8am. From there, we got on the subway and went up to Walnut/Locust. We then walked our way up to the start of the parade. We were able to get in the front row on Market St between 19 & 20.

As soon as the parade passed, we tried to work our way back to the Walnut/Locust station, only to realize, there was no way that was happening, and we found out they shut down anyway.

So we walked back to about 16th street and started walking towards the stadium. And we walked. Well, I walked and boyfriend pushed along in his wheelchair. And we walked and walked and walked.

Miracle upon miracle, we somehow caught up to the parade and then even passed it! Just when we thought the end was in sight (CBP), we walked into the parking lot only to realize the parade was coming through there and they wouldn't let us into the gates. We pleaded to everyone we could that we had tickets and to let us in, but no go.

So we had to turn around, go down to the Holiday Inn and over to the next street and then up to Pattison to get in the front gates.

Anyway, we made it in. Got there in time to grab something to eat and sit down and relax and watch the remainder of the event at CBP.

WHAT A DAY! But it was so awesome, and I'm so happy we did it. I only had one moment of giving up at the very end when we were standing outside the gates trying desperately to get in. But boyfriend kept me going. And I figured if he could push all the way from the city to the stadium without barely complaining, I could finish the rest of the way.

We had a great time and I'm so happy I was able to be there. Sorry for the novel, but wow, that was our day!

Oh, and I've got a fantastic picture of Wheels with the ball girls for you boys. World's biggest grin on his face! I'll post it later.

Got back at 8:30 after an incredibly long, joyous day. Got to the R5 in Berwyn at about 10:00 and people said they had been there since 8:00 waiting. People just trying to get to work were totally screwed and waiting for upwards of three hours. A few trains passed because they were just packed, one finally stopped at around 11:15. Got on there and headed down, pure craziness everywhere. Got into the Linc around 1 and watched for about 3 hours on the big screen before the guys came in. It was awesome. Ride home was not. Long lines. Waited for about 2 and a half hours to get home. So tired, yet so awesome.
