While this is true, it's not as if we have been terribly unlucky with the ping pong balls. In fact there is a case that we have been very lucky:
Season--------Record--------------------Most likely pick in that slot, odds & Player selected there----Actual pick, odds & Player selected
'13-'14 season---2nd worst record------ 4th pick (32%) Aaron Gordon----------------------------------------3rd pick (17%) Joel Embiid
If Embiid ends up being a beast this year, then I would rather have him then Jabari Parker, and overtaking Andrew Wiggins would be in reach.
'14-'15 season---3rd worst record-------5th pick (27%) Mario Hezonja----------------------------------------3rd pick (16%) Jahlil Okafor
Okafor was my least favorite pick of the Hinkie era, but in hindsight, he makes sense. Draft the best talent on the board, and the let the chips fall where they may.
'15-'16 season---1st worst record--------4th pick (35%) Marquese Chriss*------------------------------------1st pick (25%) Ben Simmons*
Simmons represents everything "The Process" was about, and could be a true game-changer, time will tell.

Why would they do this? What if the unlikely but possible scenario where Simmons says or does something in the next two days that changes his status occurs?
Is this Colangelo trying to make news? What is the benefit to the team of telling Simmons anything and risking it becoming public? Is some journalist making it up?
