I ultimately believed they couldn’t overturn it, but it’s not like I didn’t understand where Collinsworth was coming from, and for the first moment or two I thought he was right.

If anything, his consternation over what should have been a no-doubt-about-it catch should be exhibit A in the case to change the rules this offseason - the best commentator the NFL has was completely flummoxed as to what would happen on two different calls because of weird minor technicalities that should not be considered when evaluating the overall play. That Collinsworth was that undone in each case is proof positive that they need to change the rules.

What I learned is that I know little about these esoteric rules. Clement seemed to adjust the ball to secure it, not really juggle. Ertz's elbow hits the turn in the end zone after the ball crosses the plane, before the ball comes out when impacting the ground.

Was amazing being on Broad Street (Blue Duck) the whole night. Late 4th quarter tons of cops and a few fans were peering in the windows to watch the final minutes.

We spilled out onto Broad when it was still kind of empty. Surreal to watch the crowds roll in like waves from both sides of Locust, then Spruce, until it all filled up. I actually used to daydream that exact scenario when I lived in Texas and one of our teams looked like they had a shot. I even flew my wife up and got to Broad Street just as Bud Selig was giving his rule book pc about the rainout.

Last night my wife thought my 92-yo mother wanted to come out to Broad so we went up to her apt. She was still awake but in PJs and no interest in joining that madness. So I grabbed a few beers from my stash in her fridge, initially careful about drinking openly until I saw every other person holding a bottle or can. I gave my last one to a girl doing the cheer against a pole, who thanked me and said "I'm soooo fucking tired."
