came to my gf's school to help her pack up her classroom. pulled in and saw her waiting outside for me. i thought she needed some boxes out of the car so i waved to get her attention. some teacher i never met yells back to me thinking i was waving to him. i say "oh no sorry i was trying to get her attention". he replies "ah i thought you might've wanted some of the cake i left in the break room". so this guy i've never met thought that i somehow knew about the cake he left in the break room, drove to the school and was waving him down in the parking lot in an attempt to get some of it. quite a leap by him.

naturally the first place i went to when we got inside was the break room but there was no more cake.

maybe it was an elaborate troll job.

Agree. In general, I think there is a rush to blame parents and criminalize behavior that is, as often as not, part of life. Nobody keeps their eyes on their children every second of every day. I don't understand the need to charge someone here. The mom's punishment was having the living shit scared out of her and having herself made a spectacle.

The apology "oh I was distracted with my other kids" thing doesn't fly for me. Maybe you shouldn't of had that many kids if you're incapable of keeping track of oh maybe possibly one of them attempting to enter into a gorilla habitat.

If the kid fell into an alligator pit and they shot and killed a gator nobody would be talking about charging the parents. It certainly sucks that it happened, but the only reason people are up in arms wanting to punish the parents is because it was a cute, endangered gorilla instead of an ugly, scary reptile.

I seem to remember something like this happened in New York 30 years ago. Except it was a bear or something, not a gorilla. And, I think the kid and the bear both died.
