pacino doesn't know how the internet works. anyway, it's really cool to have people jump in to talk about how much they DON'T care about an issue. Barry, i plan to congratulate you for the truly impressive nailing down of a job (you're going to get it), so in the meantime please stop being a douche.

I mean fuck sake people, sk follows a team, Tottenham, 6000 miles away from where he lives that he's never going to see live. And has probably made 1000s of posts about this. And I'm not allowed to bring up a topic that I find interesting? I didn't even bring it up, I just responded to Youseff and jerseyhoya having a conversation.

yes, it's very strange that people on this message board about a sports team are posting about their other favorite sports teams. it almost never happens on this board.

sorry this thread got hijacked. i'm not sorry for calling jeff what he is.

you can't even make a cogent argument, try to follow one.

You post on irrelevant stuff. ALL. THE. TIME.

I posted on something in response to others. What I care about is no more or less important than what you care about. Can you follow that? Can you?

it's hard to keep up with the 3 or 4 new arguments you try to provoke with cheap shots, jeff. i'm sorry.

yes, your obsession with the ramifications of commencement speakers is every bit as important as gun control. this is the politics thread. where things of big importance in our actual world are discussed. it's not like this is the fucking soccer thread or the random thoughts thread and i'm going around telling people what they're posting about is stupid(because that should be obvious). the things we usually talk about in this thread could massively change things so sorry if i think it's stupid that you want to rail on and on about the dangers of commencement speakers being protested. sorry that people protesting and commencement speakers getting offended enough to withdraw upsets you that much that you have to insult people when they tell you that it's not important.

I'm having a tough time distinguishing where I'm the one being the insulting person and you've totally acted in an above board manner. You, the guy shouting down me with snark and direct insults.

But great.

tbh it looks like y'all picked a fight with jeff. The issue was being discussed, and then he had an opinion and everyone pretended like it was crazy for him to care, when lots of people had obviously cared enough to have an opinion before he chimed in.

Dear Class of 2014: Thanks for Not Disinviting Me

The Commencement Bigots

A few Dems weighing in on the debate. Two solid pieces.

Protesting speakers is pretty obviously not the most important problem facing these United States, but I think it's pretty gross and counterproductive and against the aims of the ideal university. The SHUT UP treatment toward people with whom you disagree seems to be on the rise and it's antithetical to both an open, democratic society and to everything a good university should stand for.

It obviously carries an extra bit of weight for me considering my employer is in the middle of this discussion. For everyone on the left asking who cares (while posting relentlessly about it), my Facebook over the past six weeks has been rife with anti-Rice speaking missives from people in my cohort and 'my' union was actively engaged in trying to get Rice not to speak. Obviously a few people care.

Among the controversial speakers and controversial disinvitations, Rice's case is/was/should be the least controversial. Discuss

Seven of the ten most gerrymandered districts are majority-minority

It's malpractice to write that article and not note that
