There's a battlefield of some sort there that's supposed to be pretty cool.

If a fellah named Pickett invites you to go for a nice walk tell him to bugger off.

I've lived less than an hour away from Gettysburg for 30 years and have never been to the battlefield. Been to Hersheypark a bunch though so I feel that evens it out.

Does me not caring at all about Veteran's Day make me a bad veteran or do I get a pass?

You're good. Veteran's Day makes me uncomfortable.

It's kind of like a place that won the Improbable Sites of World-Historical Events lottery

i mean it feels like it could just as well have been Thurmont

We brought Angus home on Veteran's Day six years ago. So I kinda like it.

Well, I don't know if it makes you feel better or worse, but because the cease fire didn't officially begin until 11, (you know, 11/11 at 11) a few thousand casualties occurred on that day. Just, because, you know, WWI wasn't quite stupid and pointless enough already.

I don't mind a day spent remembering and honoring veterans, but I think Armistice Day isn't such a great choice.

We did a number 6 on the Republican Guard right up until the official cease fire time. Shot Schedules of fire and everything just like we were back at the Field Artillery School.

Probably happened throughout history. Wars end at a certain time. Shooting goes on until the designated time. Also, back in the olden days, I'm sure it took quite some time to get the word out to all the shooters that the war was over.

sixteen is more convenient than both. But we have base ten, and it's odd that we hear about dozens so much. eggs, donuts, etc., heard the philipines death toll expressed as "many dozens". damn mesopotamains.
