i didn't even dare to try one when i lived in ND. i think i would try a seattle attempt at a cheesesteak, though. guy i met at the eagles/philly bar up here wants to open a bar with an outside window for real philly cheesesteaks. not sure if it would succeed, but i'd be driving in to seattle once a month to grab me a cheesesteak.

i'm disappointed he didn't hit them with a folding chair or some shit. once told a coworker in ND we'd have to step outside if he called a cheesesteak a "philly" again.

Yeah they called them steak and cheeses in a lot of places in DC, and it was like nails on a chalkboard.

I'd probably just start laughing at a person who called a cheesesteak a 'Philly', and if they asked why I was laughing I would tell them no reason, but be real awkward about it.

one of my roommates senior year in college used to call it a steak and cheese just to annoy me and my other roommate. one night he blacked out and woke up with the word "cheesesteak" all over his body in sharpie and he was duct taped to a chair. think that was an appropriate response.

edit: he was from N. Va so it must be a DC thing.

that's what we did to him after he made fun of us for going in for a manly celebratory embrace after the WFC. glad we saved it for that.

Maybe Arby's was right after all.

There was (is?) a dining station at Va Tech called Philly City. They sold cheesesteaks with mayonnaise. I remembering having to ask for no mayo, lettuce, and tomato because it was the standard way it came served.

I could really go for a good cheesesteak right now

i have not made cheesesteaks since moving here. this probably needs to be rectified.

i skipped to the end of this page because the whole "philly" conversation made me too mad to comb through

a pal of mine (who's never been to Philly) said Seattle has a place called Steakadelphia that imports Amorosos. I don't have the heart to tell him there's no way it's nearly as good as the worst steak in Philly
