You might have seen my band--we played there about a half-dozen times in 1989 and 1990.

Likely you would have been about the only one, though

Got involved in my first internet piss fight in a loooong time today--my dad forwarded me some anti-Muslim thing, then another recipient responded to talk about how all Muslims are evil, Obama and Holder hate America and are implementing Sha'ria law, etc, and I decided to shred the guy. It feels a bit like beating up an invalid.

Nope. We were The Earth-Tones, which was a horrible name. In my obviously biased view, though, the music was pretty strong. A review once described it as "garage dirge," which seems close enough to grunge (which broke two years later) to suggest we were onto something. My best friend Rob was (and is) an amazing guitarist, I was virtually undateable and thus had the requisite angst, and we had that Huskers power trio thing going.

Problem was that 16-17 year old kids from the 'burbs who didn't have all that many friends anyway tended to have trouble packing Center City clubs.

I feel like, experience-wise, I should have been in about 5 more bands than I have been.

I wonder when my aunts will stop giving me money for Easter,Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I hope not this year.

Yeah, I still get money for Christmas and my birthday from my aunt and uncle (my dad's only sibling). Goes right to the booze pot, I am going to hell.

I once had the misfortune of hearing the 21-minute version of Rare Earth's cover of "Get Ready."

I suspect that the "all jamming is bad" stance that some rock critics/writers began to take in the '70s was started by people who had been exposed to/scarred by that.
