Just thought this was a really interesting story and a potential abuse of power situation (and well-researched too):

If this is the pinnacle of the Tea Party movement, it's not a bad high point

Well knock me over with a feather. Stunned. Was informed reliably that he was of course not a moderate.

Of course, you didn't bring up our subsequent posts after that... :) I have no problem saying I was wrong. I'm wondering how much the national GOP will like him, though.

you probably have some sort of point here that is totally relevant and incisive, but forget about that - what's really good is that, as this edition of the politics thread lumbers towards its finish, you brought the discussion, however briefly, back to the gent alluded to in the thread's title.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Other suggestions?

Seriously, everybody knows it's fucked, but I'm not hearing alternatives. Unicameral legislature? Abolishing the filibuster? Recall elections? If nothing else, maybe proposing some wild shit will scare them into sensibility.

Aye, you got past the Bush years, when it was useful and not impeding important governance.

The anti-filibuster thing is kind of silly. Everyone here is smart, and knows that they had no problem with it back in the day. It's one of those "you take the good with the bad" deals.

I'd rather we rid ourselves of the idea of the bi-cameral legislature, but that ain't gonna happen. This is doable.

I like how government is broken as soon as Obama and The Super Majority doesn't produce rainbows and unicorns. Ironically, more than a few people predicted this storyline six months ago, and here it is. I mean, if they can't do it, the system must be broken...
