I'm going to Primus at the Tower Theater tonight. Doors open at 8 so I'm hoping the Phils put up a few crooked numbers in the early innings.
Another day, another box of stolen pens.

I dunno

Looks like it's creole/Mardi Gras themed

On the one hand, I need the social interaction in my life, and tomorrow is looking very dry and 12 hours in the library like. On the other I'm not sure I will deal well with carrying on a conversation about political theory's role in the discipline of political science when the Reds have a runner in scoring position in a tie game in the 7th inning.

you've left out an important factor that's crucial to our ability to help you resolve this complex strategic dilemma:

Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

The overall talent level is not high, and there is a strong correlation between the girls being reasonably attractive and having boy friends.

I think I'm going to go. Whatever it's only game two. Though I remember getting so pissed off at game two against the Rockies last year that I went for a walk for 45 minutes in the middle of the game.

Old Bay is fun--very good beer selection, and while the Poli Sci talent may not be much, in my day Old Bay wasn't too bad. If I recall correctly, though, there were few, if any TVs. Maybe that's changed.

And really, don't date within the department. Too many bad things can happen. Alas, it can be a challenge to socialize outside the department.

That's probably good advice.

And I called and they said they would have the game on.

Just got a call from my dad that he's going to the game. The only reason he likes this team is me. Where's my invite, pops?

there is only so many trite platitudes and inanity that i can stomach. plus, i'm very selfish when it comes to the phillies. i don't dispute the stupidity of that feeling, but i'm not actively fighting it either. so when i've got to hear some guy who has watched 5 games all year and who doesn't know matt stairs is no longer on the team arguing about werth taking too many pitches, i lose it. and depending on how many drinks i've had it goes from annoying-->my being a smart ass and baiting an argument-->nodding my head in agreement and trying to start "let's go phillies cheers"

I mostly agree with the watching the game in public thing, but I gave it some thought and remembered I was at Rocket Bar in DC for a Happy Hour for game two of the NLDS when Shane hit his famous grand slam, whereas I watched game two of the other two NLDS's from home and we lost.

Also the beer list looks really good.

I look at it like watching the game at home is a solid B, whereas watching it a bar can range from an A to an F. I decided on a bar right around the corner so I can quickly walk home if it's annoying.

I was at Chickie and Pete's for the 08 Series. That was a great time, but a huge reason why was that you couldn't hear what other people were saying.

this seems a common trait among our tribe of phils fans.

I like to imagine my snappy retorts wither their issuers (seldom other phils fans; usually fans of the opposition, casual baseball observers, or yankees fans), but usually I find they merely obtain me extra floor/bar space.

Of course that's a benefit not to be too steeply discounted

watching it at home at least will give me the option of syncing the video from the tv and the audio with the franske/la call; should i get so ambitious and motivated.

and in general, at home is the way to go for me. i discovered this when i first moved south and had no other way of watching the eagles except for going out. no sound sucks and i can rack up a bar tab like nobody's business

I'm too broke to go out and my ex girlfriend offered to make me dinner. So basically I'm hoping for the trifecta tonight.

I don't mind watching with other people, as long as they're people I know. I can't make snarky comments at a bar because they'll go over the casual viewer's head. Also as mentioned before, you have to show restraint at a bar or else you'll look like a lunatic.

I was just talking to my mom, who suggested that I leave if the game stays close or if the Phillies start losing so I don't make a bad impression on all these people I only sort of know, but need to spend time with for the next few years.

Thanks mom
