Unless something big happens and the cops who handled the original job are busy with it, they'll usually go right back if someone calls right after they leave.

Also, just looking at all the stuff that was going on in the district yesterday, it looks like the guys who handled your neighbors were cleaning house and actually doing work all over the place. Sundays are usually slow in general, too, so I'm guessing there wasn't much else going on yesterday.

An uptick in crime in the area probably wouldn't have much to do with response time on a domestic disturbance, and it was a regular patrol car and not a tactical unit that handled it, so almost certainly not in this case (though they have been using a lot more tactical teams in the area recently).

If the cops are already familiar with this guy, that's probably a factor. They didn't run him for warrants, so I'm thinking that might be the case. I guess he didn't hit her hard enough to make it worth the assault charge. Either that or she thinks he'll change. My dad has told me a lot of stories about how futile domestic stuff can be.

We burned ticks, but I don't remember making a big deal about it. Of course, when I was a kid, everyone smoked and matches were handier than toilets.
