We're the same age...

FDR hasn't been president for 64 years, and he's a standard. Hell, JFK wasn't even all that influential of a president, and he hasn't be president for 45 years and we still hear about him all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't hear either mentioned in this debate. I'm not arguing that each party doesn't have their icons, just that I can't remember the last debate where Reagan wasn't mentioned.

obama mentioned FDR while talking about the bailout proposal, and the possibility of getting money back on it.

I only watched the opening statements. I'm watching Entourage on TV and Mets/Marlins on the computer. I know who I'm voting for, I'm drunk, and I'm really happy thanks to the Phils. Not dragging it down with the day job.

Probably it's a reflection of being ahead or behind. McCain is more desperate to shift the focus away from Bush and to a more highly regarded Republican than Obama is to invoke JFK or FDR. That Reagan is well within living memory for most of the electorate likely factors in too.

Solid, Clinton-esque thumbs-up for this.

After three beers on a mostly empty stomach, I should be drunk, but for some reason not...

PBS is the only coverage that I can tolerate after these debates.
