Glad to see you are OK. How did you tear a ligament?

Rudy is the one sitting next to Raven.

Raven was Olivia

WilliamC, glad to hear/see that you're not in the hospital hooked up to some IV antibiotics for some infection.

(OK, 'cuz, that's what I was thinking happened).

I'll just say, keep up with the finger if it doesn't get better. Hands/fingers are serious business -- plastic surgeons do hand surgery because the work is so delicate.

Thanks. I will be trying to watch what I do and avoid irritating it if I can, but that seems almost impossible. I could splint it up, but I guess that wouldn't be that great of a solution either.

Longdrive, I still don't know when or how I did it. I had done things as usual most of the day when I noticed the original pain. I was like "wow, my finger hurts". Next thing I know it turns into a bad hurt, then swells. The whole things was strange. I probably did it at work as there is some heavy lifting at times, but I would think I would have noticed it at the time.

One plus, I can say with certainty that I didn't do it drunk.
Do it again!

Glad you're okay! Thought you had a spider bite that turned out badly.
Too bad about the ligament, but, at least you're able to type!

That quack doesn't know what he or she is talking about. Just because I'm not a medical professional doesn't mean I can't accurately diagnose you through the internets. You've got Staph, I tell you. It's going to eat your flesh. Don't blame me when your hand falls off.

Hah. soon I will be able to participate in all your late night drunken ramblings. They will keep me sane when sleeplessness is gnawing at me, and the wee one keeps waking up.

Here's an idea: if you're going to constantly bitch about how hard it is to grade a class with 80 people, why don't you make your assignments the kind that can be graded with some standardization, instead of a bunch of subjective bs that can only be graded arbitrarily! Also, I hate you!

I don't have 80 people in any of my classes.

You weren't talking about me?

Anyway, 80 students is fine for an intro-type course, and it only makes sense to use more or less objective tests to keep the workload manageable. But for upper level or grad courses, it seems high. About all you can do is lecture.

Well, it's an online course and she has a TA, so it should be doable, but the first assignment had a lot of questions like, "Compare these two MARC records. Don't worry about content; just LOOK. What feels different to you?" I spent a lot of time on the assignment and have complete command of the material and got a B. It might seem silly to whine about a B, but when you need a B in the class to pass, every B now means no leeway later on when it's springtime and I'm drunk. Also, she posted a document with examples of answers she considers an A, a B, and a C, and the A and the B examples are practically identical. So it's just lame. It's a freaking intro to cataloging course; it would make perfect sense to just ask regular questions that see whether or not we understand the basic concepts involved, not this ethereal crap. Sorry if I've bored you all to sleep.

OK. "Feels" should never be an assignment, because you can never be wrong about what you feel.

I feel tingly when I look at the first one, and the second one makes me hungry.
