1 Penguins 21-7-5 (47)
2 Rangers 23-11-1 (47)
3 Blue Jackets 21-5-4 (46)
4 FLYERS 20-11-4 (44)
5 Capitals 19-8-4 (42)

Washington would be in first place in the Pacific and second place in the other two divisions. Insane

Wonder if there are any stats available out there showing what the win percentage is when you miss first and other team scores round 1. Can't be often. Good win

Milbury calling Provorov a future Norris Trophy candidate had to be tough for him

You guys want a little prospect porn this morning? Here's Corey Pronman's write-up for team Canada at World Juniors:

"Philippe Myers, Philadelphia Flyers

If you asked anyone in the Flyers organization two years ago if Myers would be a top defenseman in his age group, I don't think you would have gotten a ton of nods, but they're not complaining now. Myers has emerged as one of the top defense prospects in hockey after being signed as an undrafted free agent by Philly. His skating is elite for a 6-foot-5 defenseman, and he's a skilled, creative puck mover. He's expected to be a top-four defenseman for this team.

Carter Hart, Philadelphia Flyers

Hart has been nothing short of dominant since stepping into the WHL as a 16-year-old. He's one of the most impressive goalie prospects to play major junior hockey in recent years. His elite intelligence is evident every time he plays, and he is able to move and battle at above-average levels as well. He is expected to be Canada's starting goaltender."

Myers shoots right-handed too!!!

Myers was undrafted. Think about that.

This is how you win for a long time. Hextall is the greatest

Last 2 drafts have been fantastic. The only real question I have is whether our top offensive guys like Giroux, Simmonds, Voracek will still be elite when the young wave of defensemen (Myers, Sanheim, Morin) join Ghost and Provorov.

Sanheim and Morin will be on the team next year. Hard to expect them to acclimate as quickly as Provorov and Ghost have, but i think your concern is too long of a view.
Simmonds is 28.
G is about to turn 29.
Jake is 27.
Coots is 24.

These guys are going to be elite for many years to come.

The more prevalent question imo is how we make this work with the cap. Ghost is getting paid this offseason, Simmer's sweetheart deal is up in a few seasons, goalie decisions, AMacs albatross, etc
