There was really no good way for Pederson to answer that question. He'd have been slammed either way. Still think he was taking a bullet for Andy.

Yea that's my take too obv. I was getting SB flashbacks watching the Chiefs stroll up to the line.

Answering it in a way that proves a complete lack of football instincts was probably not a good way to answer it. They were down 27-13 with 2 minutes left and "didn't want to give the ball back" to Brady? What?

I'd imagine Andy would decide the overall strategy of the game and he is just picking which plays to run in accordance with that strategy.

Well the real problem was letting it get to two minutes.

I think he was trying to say they were thinking onside kick, not try to force a three and out, and therefore didn't need to save as much time. But that was still dumb and/or really poorly executed.

I can maybe see how someone could take it that way, but I think it could just as easily be explained as it being someone who's maybe not yet entirely used to being in that situation with the press stumbling over an explanation.

Nothing against Pederson, but I just have a hard time seeing Andy passing off playcalling in the second half of a close divisional playoff game, especially to someone who'd only done it for, what, 11 halves of football at this point? Plus, it gives KC fans the ability to trick themselves into thinking, "Oh... well the guy who was responsible for that drive is gone so we're OK here."

so, are we to believe that when KC gets the ball back with 40 secs after an onside kick, their methodical offense can all of a sudden pick up 25 yards per play?

i guess we're all counting on Dug to be an unknown commodity the way Andy was when we got here, but that feels like wishcasting to me. not one answer he gave today was anything other than broad cliches strung together.

I had to google who Josh Innes was. I'm not even surprised that a Philly media person called Jason Kelce a "house negro." I'd never come here if I was involved in pro sports and had other options.

Not to defend KC's time management, which was terrible, but I think it's worth mentioning it's hard to score back to back touchdowns in the last five minutes on an elite team in a big game.

For all the deserved criticism of Reid and McNabb in that Super Bowl, we had no answers for simple run plays and screens with which the Patriots held the ball for like the entire third quarter. Same as in the 2001 Rams loss for which people only remember the desperation INT.

You are so right. I only remember the Williams INT

Execept there are those who believe the Pats had a copy of the Eagles playbook and mayhave spied on their D. Tank and BDawk have said things to the effect of they knew everhthingwe were doing on o and d especially after we made half-time adjustments.

That game never felt like the Eagles were in control. We all wanted Donny Mac to be super-man and he did lots of great stuff but never took over one of those big games and just was "the man". It has nothing to do with him throwing up which was heat exhaustion and I don't know why that is a cross to bear anyway - he just didn't pull an Aaron Rogers kind of thing - he got close 4th and 26 was special - but ---

There was plenty of blame to go around too. TO had a nice game but he was not "TO" not full speed or strength or going deep. With the tip s and fumbled LJ Smith stuff - 3 instead of 7 early - it was always going to be a close game. Did they cheat? Maybe. COuld we have won? Perhaps. But we were not miles better than them. The score was close but at no time in the 2nd half did I feel we were in control.

The RAms game was also tough. That dynasty nearing the end but still very very good. We didn't have comparable weapons and Donovan was young and he was under seige late. Our stout D couldn't hold.

The TB and CAr have also been discussed ad nauseum. Playing Bishop over Michael Lewis - Donny not fully healthy after the ankle break. Gruden learned from the earlier reg season loss where we sacked B Johnson 6 times. B Mitch and the early Duce TD should have made it our day but we got outcoached and outplayed.

Car BWest was hurt and Emmons was hurt. Don got hurt in-game. They assualted Thrash and Pinkston and despite our D holding them to 14, we had no offense of our own.

Finally, the Cardinal debacle. We murdered them on Thanksgiving night. Don again did not make magic but got us the lead late. Our D was in decline and could not make a stop that meant SB. Warner, Fitz, Edgerrin - it was too much.

All these games were winnable if everything fell right. I'm not sure there is one theme, like Donovan choked or Andy choked or too many injuries -- ?

KC had already lost. Relying on two scores late against NE was a long shot. It may have appeared they blew it w clock but they had to score and it wasn't easy. They needed the time to get the 7. unfortunately there was no time left. They needed that to be a tying score not a fast strike and do it again. I think there was some truth in Pederson's comments of we feared putting the ball back in Brady's hands. Our strategy was to score. And then hope for a miracle on the on-sides kick.

@MikeGarafolo
Eagles will hire former Browns OC John DeFilippo as QB coach, sources tell me and @PSchrags. From Manziel to Bradford (maybe).

Pederson's putting one hell of a staff together. DeFilippo's pretty highly regarded.

Yes, it's like Star Search.

Probably as good a place as any for an audition for a HC job later on.

Among the insanity of that exchange is the fact that it's a white guy talking to a black guy about a white guy.

So, according to the transcript Thomas laughs at the remark. Is it a "nervous omg wtf", "holy fuck he just said that" or a "haha I laughed at that because it is funny" laugh?
