That October broke me as a sports fan. I used to be hardcore and yell and throw shit, and now it's just something on TV

(It also didn't help that every team went to shit at the same time)

I walked out of the bar and just sat on a bench staring into space.

I had SRO and was right behind the first section behind the catcher. The air just went out of the city that night.

must've been right next to each other. biggest dick tease was that ibanez deep fly in the 6th or 7th inning.

It was the 4th. Here's the game log if you really want to torture yourself. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/PHI/PHI201110070.shtml

Other than the final out sequence, the Utley flyout to the CF warning track to lead off the 9th was the most brutal for me. I was certain that ball was headed for the bushes when it came off the bat. That was the first moment that it finally sunk in for me that the incredible season was going to end. I had no hope that Pence and Piece were going to get it done there.

I was in training to go to Afghanistan. I would come in from the field and turn the games on...when that motherfucker Ross bombed Halladay I knew we were fucked.

What a depressing period of time for me.

half curious, half hoping that they are waiting until the comp balance picks are announced tomorrow before they begin dealing.

This is a really sound thought which I am convinced has completely eluded this front office. If we are going to end up with #1 overall we could really use an extra pick or two to help leverage the pool money.

After reading Rosenthal's article today on the (somewhat laughable) valuation of prospects, I suspect those picks are undervalued. Those comp picks are probably worth the equivalent of a back-end of the top 100 player (i.e. a B-type prospect).

-- Franco is out tonight and tomorrow, so he'll have 3 days off including Thursday. The training staff looked at his elbow and said "pfft....What MRI?"

-- Rotation for the Cubs series this weekend: Williams/Hamels/Nola
