Tallon confirmed that he almost went for it. That would have been incredible for the Flyers

We have drafted a ton of dman, but they aren't all going to pan out.

They can trade them if they have too many. You see what good dmen are going for?

Sounds like the sticking point was Florida wanted Simmonds added to the deal. Glad we didn't do it.

Button had him listed highly on his prospect sheet. Some scouts say that eventually he could be the best defenseman in this draft. Guys like Ekblad had all of the hype coming into the season. He played well so he kept his high draft status. Sandheim was a no name last fall but slowly built his resume over the year. When he fills out physically, he could be a gem.

Flyers never miss on first rounders so I expect big things.

Yea we needed a winger but defenseman are such a valuable commodity. Good pick

In fairness...you are right. I guess I just had my heart on Kapanen who was sitting there. I made the mistake at looking at only the CSS rankings where he was 53 among North America skaters. I see know that five other ratings had him anywhere from 8-30. So it seems like he was fair value there. Hoping for a winger with speed in the 2 and 3 just from a need point of view. Am excited about Ghost though. I don't have any idea how Morin and Hagg progressed last year.

given how much time, money, and effort the flyers have exerted over the last 5 years trying to find even average NHL d-men, i'm fine with this recent strategy.

if we can cut down on the overspending on average players in FA, then I might conclude that the flyers have finally figured out this post-lockout salary cap thing.
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

ROUND 3: 86TH OVERALL PICK -- Mark Friedman

With the conditional Draft pick acquired from Boston in the Andrej Meszaros trade, the Flyers selected Waterloo (USHL) defenseman Mark Friedman.

A small (5-foot-10, 182 pound) offensive-minded blueliner with a righthanded shot, Friedman was one of the top offensive defenseman in the league this year, notching 10 goals and 40 points in 51 regular season games and posting seven points in the playoffs.

Friedman is slated to play collegiate hockey next season for Bowling Green University.
