Not sure how many of you actually like the WBC, but as a fan of Korean baseball and lack of baseball in this summer's Olympics...I am looking forward to this WBC. Went to the finals in LA in 2009 and had a blast, will be heading to San Fran in March for this year's Finals (hopefully Korea's there).

The qualifiers are starting tomorrow down in Florida and will be streamed live on the WBC website. (MLB Shop has the hats etc.)

Question- does the USA have to qualify? If not, why?

I really do enjoy this, by the way. One of the good things to come out of Selig's tenure.

Four teams that did not win a game in 2009 (Canada, Taiwan, Panama, and South Africa) will all play in the qualifying round. The 12 other teams in the qualifying round are Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Philippines, Spain, and Thailand. The composition of the pools will be determined once the Qualifying Round venues are selected, and will be based on geographical location, competitive balance, and regional rivalries.

I only watched 2 or 3 innings, but that Brazilian pitcher threw nothing but straight 89 mph fastballs. Teach the kid the curve.

Japan and Korea are the only non-Majestic/New Era sponsored teams in the WBC. Korea is Nike and Japan is Mizuno. Korea's uniform is being unveiled on the 15th in Korea.

Korea's are cool. Italy's logo is pretty cool. USA has the worst I think.

I'm happy Stanton changed his mind and decided to join USA instead of Puerto Rico, but it would have been tits to see him play the OF with Trout and Harper.
