I just think it's the wrong approach/goal, that shooting for a high batting average will translate to "I better not strike out as much" and more hacking and weak contact. Last time he hit .300 his grounders BABIP was nearly 100 points higher, pre-shift.
But at least this time Manuel said it in the context of being more selective.
