Patellar tendinitis treatment is a long process, no matter what type of treatment you've chosen. Recovery may take a few weeks or months if the injury isn't too severe, or as long as a year or more for people who undergo surgery.

i think you can make a really good case to keep either barfield or delwyn young as the 25th man. both can play 2B. Utley should still play 140 games this year, but gotta give him more regular rest

You still have Valdez for 2B/SS. I'd still go with the best hitter off the bench to be #25 regardless of position.

I think Young and Barfield are both capable hitters. Better than Mike Martinez, for example. If Francisco can play CF in a pinch, we're okay in the outfield.
