That wouldn't even qualify as a pause at the plate for Ryan Howard.

if you don't know what the wrestlers are trying to do--how certain moves and holds are supposed to work and so forth, then it might just look like too sweaty guys rolling around on a mat.

Oh. I'm replying to a Steagles post. Um. OK.

I look forward to how he'll react in CBP during an actual pressure situation.

Wright took umbrage to the pause. I, uh, still don't see what the big deal is.

Thought that one might leave the yard. That would have made things interesting to say the least.

To Sutcliffe, the biggest problem facing the WBC is that they don't line up and shake hands with the other team after the game ends.

Dave O'Brien chimes in that it might be the only time these Netherlands players would get to shake the hands of a major leaguer.

Oh my god

That was their attitude the whole game despite the fact that the Netherlands had already beaten major league layers and, while they were soundly beaten by the US tonight, hardly looked like they didn't belong on the same field with the US. But they had decided that the Dutch were cute and lucky and Sutcliffe has been blessed with the sort of strong mind that can hold on to preconceived notions despite the evidence of what's before his eyes.

In the Korea/ Mexico game they showed them exchanging gifts before the game. I'm not sure if that happened here. Maybe Delft Blue ceramics for a reliquary with Jeter's toenail clippings.

Gary Thorne had no idea there were so many Asian people in the world.

Got back to my hotel safe and sound. It was good to see the USA win. We moved to behind the Dutch dugout after about 3 innings. I can't stand watching games thru the screen.

Note to Davey Johnson: This is what happens when you put your best (not most popular) players in the lineup.

It is great seeing Mike Schmidt on a baseball field again.
I hope David Wright realizes that he really is the second string 3rd baseman on the USA roster.

FYI on the gift exchange. I think it only happens with the first games of the pool. Last night Puerto Rico and Team USA exchanged hats before the game.

Yeah, the guy looked at the ball for maybe what, a second before heading down first? Dunno if anything else happened while rounding the bases, but if Linstrom thought that was "showing him up", then perhaps he's a little too sensitive and should consider another line of work.

This interview with the Korean liaison is just great. Orel Hershiser and Gary Thorne asked him about every single Korean stereotype they could think of (hard working, efficient, demanding, respectful of elders, quiet) and the guy obliged with the "right" answer every time. Good stuff.

Oh, and I hope Mexico loses.

It is kinda funny that Wright got so annoyed when another team showboated.

Get a good look people. These are the only baseball broadcasts you'll see from Dolphins Stadium this year on ESPN.
