Tim Lincecum Cy Young watch -->

If you haven't figured it out, I've got a bit of thing for young Tim. He has a legit chance to pull of a '72 Carlton this season. So far, the Giants have played 23 games, won 10 and lost 13. Lincecum is 4-0, accounting for 40% of the team's wins. Tim has started 4 games and won 3, and he's also appeared in relief in 1 game and won in that appearance.

* He currently ranks 2nd in the NL in ERA at 1.23, behind only injury prone Ben Sheets

* He currently ranks 1st in the NL in K's with 36, 4 ahead of Johan Santana, who has started 1 more game.

* He currently ranks 2nd in the NL in wins with 4, behind only Brandon Webb

If the Giants bullpen keeps protecting his leads, he has a legit shot to win 18 games.

18 W, 1.95 ERA, 290 K

CY YOUNG!

Tim Lincecum is 4-0, 1.23 despite getting virtually no support from his offense or his defense. He’s the closest thing to a one-man team in MLB—his combined pitching and hitting VORP is 15.3, and the rest of the Giants have combined for 10.7.

i was wondering about the voting of the Cy Young, since with the MVP, there's always an argument against guys on lesser teams because of the the interpretation of the term "valuable." obviously, the Cy Young has no such nomenclature to worry about. here's a list of guys who've won the NL award on teams with losing records since Lefty's historic '72 campaign:

Brandon Webb, ARZ '06
Pedro Martinez, MON '97
Greg Maddux, CHC '92
Steve Bedrosian, PHI '87
Bruce Sutter, CHC '79
Randy Jones, SD '76

so, it does happen from time to time.

There's something vaguely seditious about this thread.

I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.
