maybe not:

im not buying one, i was just looking forward to seeing what they came up with.

dell seems to be missing the boat with everything non-pc related. the inspiron duo does seem kind of cool though

That article consists of 89% Grade-A snark. The rest is high fructose corn syrup and hydrolyzed soy proteins.

thank you AT&T for charging 500 for a laptop dock and forced tethering if you want to use one of the Atrix's key-feature (the webtop). I was excited....now, not so much.

If you get the bundle with the phone and the dock it's $500 total, $700 combined if you buy the dock after the fact.

Still a shit-ton of money

EDIT: and now I see what you mean about the tethering

$500, or even $300 for what is essentially a small LCD monitor and keyboard is rigoddamndiculous.

i still may get the Atrix, but won't be getting any of the docks. I thought maybe I could get the one HD dock and hook up it up to my TV and then browse the web w/ built in Firefox via wireless, but it seems that Firefox will only work if you have a tethering plan attached to your account (at least from what I gathered so far...).

did you happen to be thinking about ditching your home computer at the same time you were in the market for a phone? I was also impressed by the Atrix demos, but if your desktop/laptop isn't obsolete, what's the rush?

Not sure about the Atrix, but many of the other dual core phones being released this year allow full wireless mirroring as long as you have a dlna supported tv.

I'm using one right now...running bsg on my phone, mirrored to my 40" lcd. Don't need no dock, yo.

meatball, can you then use a mouse and keyboard or are you using the phone while looking at the monitor?

Just using my phone's onscreen keyboard right now, but apparently you'll be able to use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse, though I haven't tried it yet. I'm testing a production model that's running a stripped-down version of Android 2.3, and some of the wireless functionality is disabled. I just emailed one of our engineers to ask how the keyboard/mouse integration will work exactly, and will let you know what he says.

Btw, this device should hit the US in March, but we can't say yet which carrier is getting it, what price, etc (but you might be able to find out by sending me a pm  )

well, this isn't something you can buy (except maybe trent) but was cool nonetheless....

I made a check deposit at one of the new wachovia ATMs today. I slid my card in, entered my PIN, selected "deposit", and simply put the two checks in (together). The ATM read the checks and asked me to confirm the amount each them (it got them both correct). Boom. Done. I even elected to print a receipt with the check images. Pretty cool.

oh, i've used the machines a plenty. But I rarely get paper checks these days. Probably the first time since the summer I had to deposit any.

You can deposit checks with your smartphone by taking a picture of the front and back and using your bank's app for it. Don't even need an ATM or to give up the check anymore.
