The writers have made it clear its not about the mythology -- it's about characters and some free will versus destiny thing... many many things that made the show so addicitive in the first 3-4 seasons will remain undealt with or unsatisfactorily.

For me the #1 reason to watch was to know how it all came together, all the litlte fragments. That's not what they are doing, they've said as much. I think the article linked to above suggests that Darlton has said that the first half of the season will be more like season 1, and that the 2nd half will have no flash forwards or backwards. And no time travel in season 6. It's a new dawn and a lot of the elements that came before won't be answered.

How can you even say that first part? You haven't seen the season so how do you know what will or won't get answered?

Hope people are watching the 2-hour finale with the writer's notes.

There have been some interesting things there, including "Jacob touching our Losties is important".

all i'm saying is i don't think the finale of the second-to-last season is a good jumping off point for the greatest series in the history of network TV

Agreed. I've seen every episode and am still lost (PUN!). But the writers tell me that anyone can watch this season and understand!!

that may be true, i don't know. but i feel by doing that you miss out on some pretty great mystery, drama, and characters. i would just start from the beginning.

I want them to open with a scene of Locke as a Kubrickian star baby traveling through the cosmos as the speed of the world's collective consciousness
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Can’t believe how much time I wasted on this garbage
“I don’t coach losers, I only coach winners.” Mike Krzyzewski

Tom Brady bereft on the turf, it has literally been ripped from his grasp
