I think that Steven Miller cartoon is taking the briefing today. If so, or if not, whoever it is has been beating down the NYT reporter. He was asked for stats, and he is blazing stupid and baseless rhetoric about low skilled illegals taking jobs from American workers (forget the geography of "America"). What a mess.

Responding to a question if DJT Enterprises will lead the way and be an example by hiring on these US citizens over J status seasonal workers, he responded that guest workers are different, so that is not something of concern for Trump businesses. Trump has already explained that he has the right and obligation to operate within whatever laws there are which are favorable, as explained when he was the candidate.

I missed out on the fact that the LEGAL immigration is being cut in half.

Now this is patently false:

This legislation,will not only restore our competitive edge in the 21st century...

Its demonstrated that immigration has traditionally brought skilled and motivated labor, and as importantly entrepreneurs.

Then the campaign segment of the sentences

" but it will restore the sacred bonds of trust between America and its citizens. This legislation demonstrates our compassion for struggling American families who deserve an immigration system that puts their needs first and that puts America first.”

Honestly, there are not enough qualified, motivated technical resources available in the market. Its good for m, because it is competitive, and that drives the basic economy of pay, but it is tragic for industry because those opportunities are just a lot of fisherman fishing the same stocked pond.

Moving on to the more tragic part

The reductions would come almost entirely from those brought in through family ties.

Which makes me wonders what this would do to K-1 (fiance) and K-2 (dependent) visas. Did Melania have a K visa, or was she just here illegally on a tourist visa?

Probably my favorite thing about the Trump era has been the number of so-called "libertarians" who have outed themselves as a) white supremacists b) red pill weirdos c) anti-First Amendment d)some combination of these in their wholehearted embrace of the Donald.

I built a truly great company worth many billions of dollars. That is a big part of the reason I was elected.

I love this absolutely bullshit narrative that confuses Donald Trump with Steve Jobs

Man, I saw the replay of part of Stephen Miller's interaction with CN's Jim Acosta. Miller went relatively bananas. Acosta asked him if the provisions listed on the statue of liberty were not being violated, and Miller responded with something that sounded like Klan rally material about bringing the poor, weak, and huddled masses as a late addition to the statue. Acosta tried to be cheeky and suggest that the only available immigrants are Brits and Aussies (because we know Canooks and Kewies speak the English too ;) ) , allowing Miller to roll off on a disgusted rant about Acosta being shortsighted about who speaks English. Apparently it went on for a while and must be a shit show.

Miller is repulsive on every vector.

This series of tweets from Dmitry Medvedev, Putin's power buddy, seem to be an effort to get a response from Donald. Assuming this whole thing isn't orchestrated nonsense, of course.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday that two phone calls President Trump spoke publicly about receiving — from the head of the Boy Scouts and the president of Mexico — were not fabricated but instead took place in person.

“The conversations took place,” Sanders told reporters at a White House briefing. “They just simply didn’t take place over a phone call. . . . He had them in person.”

Both Trump claims of phone calls had been disputed in recent days by the other parties involved.

.....

“I got a call from the head of the Boy Scouts saying it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them, and they were very thankful,” Trump told the Journal, according to a transcript obtained and published by Politico.

////

Sanders told reporters Wednesday that Trump was referring to in-person conversations with “multiple members of the Boy Scout leadership, following his speech there that day,” who she said “congratulated him, praised him and offered quite powerful compliments following his speech."

...

“Even the president of Mexico called me,” Trump said with reporters present in the Oval Office. “Their southern border, they said very few people are coming because they know they're not going to get to our border, which is the ultimate compliment.”

//////

“On Mexico, he was referencing the conversation that they had had at the G-20 Summit, where they specifically talked about the issues that he referenced,” Sanders said.

She was pressed by a reporter about whether Trump had lied.

“I wouldn’t say it was a lie,” Sanders said. “That’s a pretty bold accusation.”
