Looks like it might be the worst one yet. Mumford and Sons as hipster? Lil' Vulture is a 12 yo Arkansan and likes them.

Oh, no. Apparently, eating kale is hipster too. Lil' Vulture loves kale. I wonder if crawfish is also hipster. That's another of her favorite foods.

Have I given birth to a Lil' Hipster?

No, and I haven't seen any flannel yet either. She did get second piercings in her ears today. Is that a hipster thing?

I saw that article pop up on my Twitter feed the other day and was disappointed that NYTimes is going to the "Brooklyn is so exotic" well yet again. It's going on at least 10 years of this and a good 3 years after Brian Williams zinged 'em pretty good for this repetitive schtick.

mad at myself for clicking the link and giving them more page views and further justifying that type of article.

It's self parody at this point. Maybe the NYT is making up for the fact that they pretended the outer boroughs didn't exist for most of its history.

To paraphrase because it's a lazy catch all phrase for any white guy or gal between the age of 18-40 that likes music and hates Dave Matthews Band.

I don't think the target was really hipsters themselves, but people who talk about hipsters, especially the way the NYT Style section does. By showing ways in which a 12 yo from Arkansas exhibits a couple of hipster characteristics, I was sort of joking about the various things that are identified as "hipster".

yeah i don't think "defensive" is the right word. it's just used to describe 90% of people in their 30s or younger now. Like TV pointed out, the dude wanted to look like someone from Conform and Sons ffs

It wasn't much different really 20 years ago. Do people still wear thrift store blazers with jeans and a t-shirt?
