It was a joyous night, a magical night. One almost too surreal to believe. And yet Halladay acted as if this was a routine victory over the Cubs or Nationals in the middle of August. He changed out of his uniform and led his two sons back into the same tunnel to go to the interview room. None of this seemed to overwhelm him.

After he was gone, Hamels smiled.

“You know, this is what he expects to do, and so when he does it he’s just like, ‘yeah that’s me,’ ” he said.

What exactly do they do at the ballpark at 10 AM on a day with no game?

Phillies right-hander Ryan Madson got the same feeling.

"He didn't want to celebrate," Madson said. "He wants to win two more games and win the World Series."

That is why Halladay arrived at the ballpark early Thursday.

He has a key to the clubhouse should he ever beat clubhouse employees to the ballpark. (He has been known to arrive at 10 a.m. for a 7 p.m. game.) He lifts weights, runs stairs, rides the exercise bike, recuperates in his hyperbaric chamber and studies hitters in the video room.

Every minute has a purpose.

"Same old Roy," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "I said, 'Hello, Roy.' He said, 'Hello, Charlie,' and grinned and went about his business. The grin showed me that he's happy."

If he pitches here till hes 40, theres a chance he goes down as the 2nd greatest player in franchise history

I'm assuming you mean Schmidt, wonder how stacks up against Carlton at the same age?

How many years/Cy Youngs/WFCs does he have to play/win in Philly before he goes into the HoF as a Phillie rather than a Blue Jay?

well if hawk went in as an expo, i'd say pretty much another 8-10 years so he has a roughly equal number of years as a jay and a phil.

if he wins 2 WS and 2 Cy Youngs with the Phils, then maybe he goes in with a Phils hat even if he only does like 5-6 years here.

either way he's going to have to come back for 1 more contract beyond this one, i'd say.

12 seasons in Toronto
148-76
3.43 ERA (134 ERA+)
49 CGs
6 ASG
1 CY (also 2nd, 3rd, and 2 5ths)
0 playoff appearances

Philly so far
21-10
2.44 ERA (165 ERA+)
9 CG
1 ASG
probably 1 CY
1 playoff
1 perfect game
1 playoff no hitter

If he finishes out the contract and option, that's 5 seasons. If he wins 2 CYs and 2 WFCs with close to 100 wins and a sub 3 ERA, its close. If he pitches 7 seasons in Philly with 120+ wins, he's going in as a Phillies.

He's going in as a Jay and it would be moronic if it was any other team
