Because Stairs also has a very good eye and can walk. Remember the NLCS?

I do like the fact that they forced the Yankees to use Rivera here if nothing else. It suppresses the odds of a two-inning jobby tomorrow.

He walk a lot and we need baserunners. If we come back, the middle of the order will get the big hits.

awful v. terrible?

Well, Feliz seems constitutionally incapable of not swinging at the first pitch against RH pitchers. He's not very good, but still much more patient against LH pitching - which is to say, he shows the minimal patience one would think a person could exhibit and still stay in the big leagues against LH pitching.

Against RH pitching, not so much.

he's gonna ground out to the left side in under four pitches either way

I wonder if there's a Chris Russo curse, because yesterday he was going on and on about Riveral being perfect.

im sure this has been covered 50 pages ago, but it just can't be overstated how unbelievably horrible of a decision hitting bruntlett in the 6th was. it's so remarkably obvious that the yankees' lefties would be burnt towards the beginning of the lineup later in the game, and stairs is the obvious choice to face rivera in the 9th.

there was almost no chance that we were going to have another RH pinch hitting situation the rest of the game. i love charlie and all, but that decision was just utterly inexcusable.

Rollins really had Rivera figured out as promised.
