As a general rule, announcers come into a game with a story "ready-to-go". whether it's the likely outcome or not, they pick how they think it'll go, then get factoids and notes to support that outcome. it's no secret the press has been gunning for an LA/NY series, so instead of parroting LA facts, they're going with NY statements. doesn't make sense in context, but they tell the story they're ready to tell.
