Well written, I think your vocabulary usage might be a bit high for the audience that they are aiming for.

And in the first paragraph, it seemed as if you were using big words simply to use big words as there was no flow in the beginning but it got better later on.

that's just how i talk nigga

Someone needs to do an FJM-style dismantling of this. It's awesome

I don’t know what it’s like to face a major league pitcher

Clearly.

Sending up hitters who cannot hit a slider is asking for a very frustrating strikeout.

New Mets draft strategy=take only guys that can hit devastating sliders
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

what makes his article so funny is that he doesn't seem to understand what a baseball does coming out of a pitcher's hand. Lidge's release point on his fastball and slider are identical. When you maintain a consistent release point, the batter has to wait to see the spin of the ball before picking up the pitch.

Image

Thats from yesterday's game. Those are all the pitches he threw. His release point is extremely consistent. Because of this, the batter can't tell what is coming based on where he releases the ball. For a pitcher throwing a 90 mph fastball and an 80 mph slider, you have a split second longer to react. For a guy throwing a 94 mph fastball and an 84 mph slider, you don't have that luxury.

machinegundump does bring up a good point though. Lidge could stand to throw a few more fastballs, and his command of the pitch isn't as good as the command on the slider. But the overall premise of his article is dumb.

Hitters "sit" on Trevor Hoffman's changeup and they can't hit it. They sit on Jamie Moyer's batting practice fastball/changeup and can't hit it.

Almost every batter he faces will get at least one slider

Because hitters have been so successful sitting on Rivera's cutter all these years.

This has probably been said already, but this loss is affecting me more than those of some family members. This guy was not only the voice but the pride of the Philadelphia sports fan

Until I watch a full televised broadcast without Harry, I don't think it will really sink in that he's gone. I'm flipping between this and the Mets game, and I've already caught myself once or twice not thinking much of it when I hear Harry's voice on this broadcast. As if it were just another Phillies game and all was as it should be.

As it most definitely should be.

Outta here! Chase Utley has tied the ballgame!

I almost lost it on the rebroadcast.

It's sort of fitting that he got to call a mammoth Stairs HR because he didn't get to call the NLCS one.
